Timekeeping object with ambient illumination

RIB Time + Light explores time and light as background conditions rather than focal points. A concealed light source at the base softly illuminates the clock face and casts a secondary ambient glow behind the form. Internally, textured and faceted surfaces interact with light and shadow, subtly suggesting the passage of hours while revealing the layered nature of the printed structure.

The seconds hand moves with deliberate subtlety, signalling operation without insisting on precision. Interchangeable hands allow quiet contrast, while a removable internal lattice moderates glare when viewed from above. Designed to integrate with Abhinc’s modular RIB system, the object is intended to sit quietly within a space - present, but unassertive.

*Like most craftwork, the nature of 3D printing means that there will be visible layer lines and sometimes minor defects. I designed these pieces with this in mind to best exhibit the character and uniqueness of these imperfect aesthetics.
